Mercedes-Benz India today launched the new C-Class AMG

The German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today launched the new C-Class AMG Performance Edition with a sports package and hinted at introduction of several other models in the current year and next year.

The next major launch in India is likely to be from their B-Class range (made in India) around the festival season this year, followed by other models including the A-Class and a new E-Class range.
The C-Class 250 CDI Avant-garde, introduced in India starting at Hyderabad, has been hailed as the most aggressive vehicle in its class in terms of handling and driving dynamics. It is priced at Rs 35,90,516 ex-showroom in Hyderabad.
Mr Peter Honegg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes Benz India, said, “The C-Class has been one of the most successful sedans from the Mercedes-Benz portfolio and has received an overwhelming response. We have sold over 15,000 units of the C-Class since its launch in India in 2001.”
He said this redefines the luxury entry-level sedan segment. The sporty car has gone through a complete makeover.
The company sold 7,430 units during 2011 as against 5,819 units in 2010. “We expect to garner a double digit growth of about 15 to 20 per cent this year,” he said.
The C-Class sedan was introduced at Mahavir Motors in the IT hub of Hyderabad.
