Herbs for Liver Remedies
Liver Tonics Remedies
Milk thistle A healthy liver is the foundation of health, and inversely, a failing liver is life threatening. If your liver fails, so do you. There are constant pressures on the liver from environmental toxins in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food and medicines we digest. The liver is amazingly complex organ, the largest one in the body, and it affects virtually every physiological process.
The liver metabolizes proteins, fats, cholesterol and carbohydrates that fuel the body and secrete bile that increases intestinal absorption of fats and the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. A sluggish liver translates into fatigue since the body cannot convert foods into energy efficiently.
Metabolizes and secretes toxins. Toxic buildup is thought to be the underlying causes of conditions such as chronic fatigue, stress, and inflammatory conditions like arthritis, and psoriasis, just to name a few. The liver detoxifies harmful biochemicals produced naturally as byproducts of internal processes, and those we willfully take in, i.e., drugs, alcohol, and chemical additives in processed foods.
Herbal remedies for the liver concentrate on supportive herbal tonics that help it's perform these vital functions: aiding digestion, increasing energy, and eliminating toxins.
Milk thistle is the best known of the liver tonics. The seeds contain silymarin, which has been shown to protect the liver against a number of toxins, including alcohol. A frequent drinker or recovering alcoholic should take milk thistle extract on a daily basis.

I-slate tablets for school students-$30-40
The proposals of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore and Villages for Development and Learning Foundation (ViDAL) go as planned, school children in one of the poorest districts in India would get 50,000 tablets in the next three years.
When bought in bulk, these tablets will be available for just $30-40 from vendors, while NTU and ViDAL would take care of the content that goes into these tablets, labelled I-slate.
These entities in association with Rice University (Singapore) and the Andhra Pradesh Government have already been doing a pilot in two Government schools in Mahaboobnagar district by giving school children 30 tablets. “We have been studying the user experience for the last three years. We will be coming out with a detailed paper,” Mr Krishna Palem, a professor at both Rice and NTU, and who created the I-slate.
I-slate is a low-cost learning tool designed for classrooms with no electricity and too few teachers. It is under joint development by the I-slate consortium that includes hardware experts at Rice and NTU, ViDAL and a US-based design team.
“I-slate is a device designed for a single purpose – education in a low-resource environment. We have talked to manufacturers in China and they agreed to supply these units at $30-40 a piece, if you buy lakh units. The price would gradually go up as the number goes down,” Mr Krishna Palem, who was here to showcase the model.

Economic Survey Of India(Exports)
Gujarat and Maharashtra account for 46 per cent of exports from India according to the data on state of origin of exports of goods in 2010-11, according to the Economic Survey 2011-12.
If Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, with more than 5 per cent share, are added to the top two, the share of the top five States would be 65.7 per cent (in 2010-11), it is found.
In 2010-11, the growth of exports from States was robust, the Survey said, adding that “Only Goa had negative export growth due to fall in ore exports owing to a ban on exports of iron ore by the Karnataka Government.”
High export growth was registered by Odisha followed by West Bengal and Gujarat. In the first half of 2011-12, there was robust export growth in case of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, it said.
To encourage exports, outlay under the Assistance to States for Developing Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) Scheme for the Eleventh Five-Year Plan was increased to Rs 3,793 crore.
“State-wise allocation under State component of ASIDE shows that the top six States in terms of allocation in 2011-12 are Maharashtra and Gujarat followed by Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh,” it said.

New Image Of Saturns Moon-NASA
The latest images of Saturn’s icy moon ‘Enceladus’ showing jets of liquid and gas coming out from prominent fractures on the satellite’s south polar region have left NASA scientists astounded.
“Enceladus continues to astound. With each Cassini flyby, we learn more about its extreme activity and what makes this strange moon tick,” said Bob Pappalardo, Cassini project scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.
The unique mosaic images — taken about 14,000 kilometres from Enceladus by Cassini in November — are expected to help yield the most detailed temperature map to date of one fracture.
The pictures — from the imaging science subsystem and the composite infrared spectrometer teams —include the best 3D image ever obtained of a “tiger stripe”, a fissure that sprays icy particles, water vapour and organic compounds, NASA said.
The images provide Nasa the last look at the moon’s south polar surface — including an area with crudely circular tectonic patterns that were not well-mapped previously — before the region goes into 15 years of darkness.
Over 30 individual jets of different sizes — including more than 20 that had not been seen before — can be seen in the image. At least one jet spouting prominently in previous photos now appears less powerful.
“This last flyby confirms what we suspected. The vigour of individual jets can vary with time, and many jets, large and small, erupt all along the tiger stripes,” said Carolyn Porco from the Space Science Institute in Colombo.
The Big Draw For Wind Developers In Tamil Nadu, renewable energy sectiros
The wind power developers, the first choice still remains Tamil Nadu.
Get your evacuation lines in place, we will invest, they say.
Several wind power companies that participated in Renergy 2012, a renewable energy event organised by the Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency, have said that despite having 6,300 MW of wind power capacity – about 40 per cent of the total installed capacity in the country – Tamil Nadu has still a lot of good sites to offer.
The Hong Kong-based CLP India, which is incidentally the largest foreign investor in India's power sector, has 99 MW of wind assets in Theni, Tamil Nadu. The company wanted to add capacity here, but power evacuation issues have caused the company to wait and watch.
A similar view was expressed by Mr Sunil Jain, Chief Operating Officer, Green Infra, a major player in the renewable energy sector in India. Tamil Nadu is “very, very attractive” he said, noting that there was still a huge potential for putting up wind farms.
Manikaran Power is yet another company which is planning a major push into the renewable energy sector, with plans for 500 MW of wind assets. Choice One: Tamil Nadu — for a 25 MW plant. However, the company's Executive Director, Mr Pravin Abraham, says that it needs some comfort in terms of transmission.
Manikaran is in talks with Gamesa for purchase of the latter's machines. Gamesa is said to have met with success in securing an approval from the Tamil Nadu authorities to put up its own sub-stations. Once, Gamesa is able to put up a 400-kVa sub-station, it might be possible to hook it up with the Power Grid Corporation of India's lines, industry observers say. In spite of short-term challenges in Tamil Nadu that include evacuation and delays in payment, the State continues to be an attractive proposition for wind farms. This is because the State still has some of the best wind sites. Further, the developers and turbine manufacturers have acquired sites in Tamil Nadu based on resource assessment potential. The progressive regulations of the state including group captive model continues to attract investors and developers for whom Tamil Nadu continues to remain an attractive proposition, says Mr Vineeth Vijayaraghavan, Founder and Editor of Panchabuta, an online renewable energy newsletter.
Mr D.V. Giri, Secretary-General, Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers' Association, said that Tamil Nadu was good in terms of land acquisition too.
Speaking at a panel discussion at Renergy 2012, both Mr Giri and Mr Sunil Jain of Green Infra, said that land acquisition was the easiest in Rajasthan. They said that while Tamil Nadu was okay, Maharashtra and Karnataka were pretty bad
