GET PAN ONLINE-EASILY.
Apply for PAN online.
Indians use the Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card as an
identification document for different purposes. There are many holders of the
PAN card who are neither working nor file tax returns; but have this solely for
the purpose of identification. As the importance of this document has increased
over the years, more and more people are applying for it.
As a result of this, the Income Tax department has sought to
simplify the process of applying for a PAN card. While the PAN card could
earlier be obtained only through middlemen, who were usually Chartered accountants,
today the PAN card can be easily applied for online. This is an easy and user
friendly process, with clear instructions and guidelines given at every stage.
Here are the steps involved in applying for a PAN card when you wish to do it
online -
1.
Visit the website of the Income Tax Pan
Services Unit. This can be visited athttps://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/
2.
This is the home page of the Income Tax
PAN Services unit and has different choices such as application for a new PAN,
Enquiry and Tracking status, Reprint of PAN card and changes or correction in
the PAN details. The applicant must choose the option which is applicable to
him.
3.
To apply for a new PAN, Form 49A will
need to be used. Form 49A can be filled online by visiting https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan2/servlet/NewPanApp.
Fill in the details and submit the form online. After the form is submitted
online successfully, an acknowledgement is displayed. This shows a unique 15
digit acknowledgement number. This acknowledgement must be saved and printed
for further process.
4.
The acknowledgement form must be sent
to the Income Tax department. Before sending this, you will need to attach a
few documents along with the acknowledgment form. This includes a proof of
address and a proof of identity. Your name which is mentioned in these
documents should be in the same format as that in the PAN application form.
Take care of this at the time of filling in Form 49A.
5.
You must also affix two recent colour
photographs on the acknowledgment form in the applicable space. Signatures have
to be made where indicated. The photograph you affix should be clear and
recent, as this is the same photograph which will be used on your PAN card.
6.
Application for PAN necessitates
payment of Rs.96 if the communication address is within India . In this
case, you can make the payment by one of the following methods – cheque, Demand
Draft, internet banking, credit card or debit card. If the communication
address is outside the country, then the amount to be paid is Rs. 962, and this
is only in the form of a demand draft. In the case of payment by internet
banking, by credit card or by debit card, the payment has to be made at the
time of filling in the form, after which a payment acknowledgement will be
given. Take a print of this and attach with the acknowledgement form.
7.
The acknowledgement form must thus be
accompanied by photographs, proof of address, proof of identification and the
payment/payment proof as the case may be. This must be sent to NSDL in Pune
within 15 days of the online application date. The envelope must be subscribed
with the words ‘APPLICATION FOR PAN – Acknowledgement Number’. The applications
are processed at NSDL after receipt of payment – meaning if the payment has
been made by means of a demand draft or cheque, you must wait for realization
of the payment.
The steps above are simple and self explanatory. There are adequate
instructions, guidelines and a list of Do’s and Don’ts in the website which
will guide you in every step of the PAN application process. The application
status can be tracked online after the acknowledgement has been sent. Online
payments made can also be tracked online. NSDL also offers the facility of
tracking by writing to them at their address or by sending an SMS to 57575 by
typing SMS NSDLPAN Acknowledgement No.
The process of changing or correcting the details of your existing
PAN card is similar to the process of applying for a new PAN card. At the home
page of the Income Tax PAN Services Unit, you will need to select “Changes or
Correction in PAN details”. Fill in the PAN Change Request Form online and
follow the steps above. This PAN change request section also has separate
guidelines, instructions and Do’s and Don’ts to help you.
Therefore you no longer have to depend on someone else to get a
PAN card for yourself or anyone you know. Simply follow the above steps and get
it.

Top 10 Languages in the World.
Language is perhaps the most important function of the human body – it allows us to get sustenance as a child, it allows us to get virtually anything we want as an adult, and it allows us many hours of entertainment through literature, radio, music, and films. This list (in order of least to most spoken) summarizes the most important languages in use today. The top ten are as follows:-
10,French,
9.Malay,
8.Portuguese,
7.Bengali,
6.Arabic,
5.Russian,
4,Spanish,
3.Hindustani,
2.English,
1.Mandarin.(Chinese)
10
French.
Number of speakers: 129 million
Often called the most romantic language in the world, French is spoken in tons of countries, including Belgium, Canada, Rwanda, Cameroon, and Haiti. Oh, and France too. We’re actually very lucky that French is so popular, because without it, we might have been stuck with Dutch Toast, Dutch Fries, and Dutch kissing (ew!).
9
Malay-Indonesian.
Number of speakers: 159 million
Malay-Indonesian is spoken – surprise – in Malaysia and Indonesia. Actually, we kinda fudged the numbers on this one because there are many dialects of Malay, the most popular of which is Indonesian. But they’re all pretty much based on the same root language, which makes it the ninth most-spoken in the world.
Indonesia is a fascinating place; a nation made up of over 13,000 islands it is the sixth most populated country in the world. Malaysia borders on two of the larger parts of Indonesia (including the island of Borneo), and is mostly known for its capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
8
Portuguese.
Number of speakers: 191 million
Think of Portuguese as the little language that could. In the 12th Century, Portugal won its independence from Spain and expanded all over the world with the help of its famous explorers like Vasco da Gama and Prince Henry the Navigator. (Good thing Henry became a navigator . . . could you imagine if a guy named “Prince Henry the Navigator” became a florist?) Because Portugal got in so early on the exploring game, the language established itself all over the world, especially in Brazil (where it’s the national language), Macau, Angola, Venezuela, and Mozambique.
7
Bengali.
Number of speakers: 211 million
In Bangladesh, a country of 120+ million people, just about everybody speaks Bengali. And because Bangladesh is virtually surrounded by India (where the population is growing so fast, just breathing the air can get you pregnant), the number of Bengali speakers in the world is much higher than most people would expect.
6
Arabic.
Number of speakers: 246 million
Arabic, one of the world’s oldest languages, is spoken in the Middle East, with speakers found in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt. Furthermore, because Arabic is the language of the Koran, millions of Moslems in other countries speak Arabic as well. So many people have a working knowledge of Arabic, in fact, that in 1974 it was made the sixth official language of the United Nations.
5
Russian.
Number of speakers: 277 million
Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, and Yakov Smirnoff are among the millions of Russian speakers out there. Sure, we used to think of them as our Commie enemies. Now we think of them as our Commie friends. One of the six languages in the UN, Russian is spoken not only in the Mother Country, but also in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and the U.S. (to name just a few places).
4
Spanish.
Number of speakers: 392 million
Aside from all of those kids who take it in high school, Spanish is spoken in just about every South American and Central American country, not to mention Spain, Cuba, and the U.S. There is a particular interest in Spanish in the U.S., as many English words are borrowed from the language, including: tornado, bonanza, patio, quesadilla, enchilada, and taco grande supreme.
3
Hindustani.
Number of speakers: 497 million
Hindustani is the primary language of India’s crowded population, and it encompasses a huge number of dialects (of which the most commonly spoken is Hindi). While many predict that the population of India will soon surpass that of China, the prominence of English in India prevents Hindustani from surpassing the most popular language in the world. If you’re interested in learning a little Hindi, there’s a very easy way: rent an Indian movie. The film industry in India is the most prolific in the world, making thousands of action/romance/musicals every year.
2]
English.
Number of speakers: 508 million
While English doesn’t have the most speakers, it is the official language of more countries than any other language. Its speakers hail from all around the world, including New Zealand, the U.S., Australia, England, Zimbabwe, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, South Africa, and Canada. We’d tell you more about English, but you probably feel pretty comfortable with the language already. Let’s just move on to the most popular language in the world.
1
Mandarin(Chinese).
Number of speakers: 1 billion+
Surprise, surprise, the most widely spoken language on the planet is based in the most populated country on the planet. Beating second-place English by a 2 to 1 ratio, but don’t let that lull you into thinking that Mandarin is easy to learn. Speaking Mandarin can be really tough, because each word can be pronounced in four ways (or “tones”), and a beginner will invariably have trouble distinguishing one tone from another. But if over a billion people could do it, so could you. Try saying hello!

After Tirupati laddu & Madurai malli, now Naga shawl in line for GI tag
The Indian Chamber of Commerce has filed an application seeking registration of traditional Naga shawls made in Nagaland with the Geographical Registry of India for Geographical Indication (GI).
The Geographical Indication (GI) marks out a designated product of a definite geographical territory and is used to identify agricultural, natural or manufactured goods originating from the territory.
The registration would confer legal protection to the Naga shawls in India and the world over.
The government grants the GI when a product is distinctively linked to a region and has been handed down traditionally. It ensures legal protection for the product besides improving the export of these products.
The government has taken up several measures for promoting the products registered under GI scheme and one of them includes setting up of District Industries Centre (DIC).
The main objective of DIC is to provide assistance under one roof to the entrepreneurs and the centre located in Kohima is working in this direction by assisting the entrepreneurs who are engaged in the manufacturing Naga shawls.
"The Naga shawls had become so important that the government has already recognised them for registration as a GI. It's a Naga indigenous handloom product. Since government has already thinking of approving GI for Naga shawls, DIC is in touch with the entrepreneurs to produce more products of our own indigenous land like Naga shawls," said Bendangliba, GM, DIC.
The DIC ties up with deserving entrepreneurs and encourages then to come to DIC to know the activities of the centre. Once GI comes through, the Naga shawls would have more weightage and hold its place of pride.
Hundreds of Naga women would benefit from the schemes of DIC and work towards mass production in future. All this would add to financial prosperity of the region.
Naga women in the villages have been weaving these exquisite shawls since decades and Pelebeinuo Sech, a local, is one of them.
"I learnt weaving in 1970. Since childhood, I loved the weaving so I used to observe people who wove. Now, I don't buy much of stuffs from outside, but weave for my personal use. We sell our products, and the money we get is utilized for education and other family requirements. From a young age, we teach children to make belts and new designs," said Pelebeinuo Sech.
The weaving of Naga shawls has been a way of life for the Naga women, especially in the villages.
This age-old practice of shawl weaving has been traditionally handed over from generation to generation and the usage of shawls is literally there from the 'cradle to the grave.' It is a part of every celebration.

Courier locker!
E-commerce outfits are dispatching more. But courier firms face a problem: Delivering the consignments as most often homes are locked. Many of these courier firms such as DTDC and Blue Dart are looking at locker services.
To be located in different locations in a city, people can collect their parcels from these locker complexes. This concept is popular in the US and some European markets.
DHL has launched electronic locker services in some developed markets where people can use an electronic code to retrieve thier shipment.
Increasing online shopping activity has made e-commerce one of the fastest growing segments for courier firms. But more families are going nuclear with both partners working. Repeat trips raise the cost of delivery.
DTDC, the Rs 419-crore firm, may start a locker service in a year or so. Abhishek Chakraborty, Executive Director, DTDC, told Business Line that the company is evaluating an option.
“With 6,000 outlets in the country, we are in an advantageous position to let customers have an option to come and pick up their parcels from our franchisees. We would like to start such a service towards end of 2013 or beginning of 2014,” Chakraborty said.
Blue Dart, the Rs 1,500-crore firm in which DHL has a 75 per cent stake, has weighed such an option and feels it is just a matter of time before such services start in India.
Blue Dart, whose parent company DHL has automated drop boxes globally, has implemented a concept on such lines for its smaller business customers through vehicles.
“We do have a service for small customers through vehicles. The vehicles go and park in an area and small and medium enterprise customers can pick and drop cargo,” said Blue Dart’s Managing Director Anil Khanna. Khanna, who has evaluated the concept of automated boxes in India, said there are complexities such as land ownership and potential misuse of the boxes. Yet, he thinks it is only a matter of time before these services are launched.
Meanwhile, to get over the problem of locked homes, other steps that courier firms are implementing include sending a text alert or making an advance phone call.
