The steel major's European arm has successfully developed and laid ‘SilentTrack' in the UK. It has installed the tracks at Blackfriars station in London.
“At present we have no live projects identified in India, but we would be very keen to advise the Indian railway authorities on the use of SilentTrack,” said Mr Bob Jones, Group Head Media Relations, Tata Steel Group, in an email reply.
Noise and vibration from moving trains cause lot of discomfort not only to the passengers but also to the people residing in proximity to the stations. The need for such ‘SilentTrack' rail system assumes importance in the country, where the tracks run inside the cities, he added.
