London 2012 Slalom Canoe: Google’s 3rd playable doodle.

Google has yet introduced another interactive doodle today!

  A different one, as it takes you to the water course with a Slalom Canoe game. The London 2012 Slalom Canoe is the 14th and the third interactive Google’s doodle after Hurdles and Basketball in the ongoing Olympics.
         The playable doodle features a paddler with a yellow-coloured canoe which allows you paddle a canoe down a water course on your computers that has 10 downstream gates, marked with green striped poles.
        To adjust the speed of their canoes, users can use left and right arrow keys. The game goes like this- the speed of the canoe slows down on hitting the banks, water animals and sedimentary rocks, and you will score more if you paddle faster.
        Earlier, Google had celebrated London 2012 Olympics events like Pole Vault, Shot Put, Table Tennis, Hockey, Artistic Gymnastics men's Rings, Fencing, Diving, Archery, Synchronised Swimming and Javelin with a different doodle theme for every sport.
The opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics on July 27 was celebrated with doodle depicting five athletes playing different Olympics sports.

London 2012 basketball is the thirteenth London Olympics doodle,

 carrying on the tradition of a Google doodle every day of the Olympics.
The sport of basketball needs no introduction, as it is one of the most popular sports in the world. Basketball is played by teams of 5 players each, and is one of the most fast-paced, high-scoring games around.
The doodle itself is in the form of a game, where the user's aim is to make the athlete score as many points as possible. Press the spacebar to shoot - the longer you hold the spacebar before shooting, the further the ball goes. Try aiming for over 25 points to be the Michael Jordan of your office!
Last Friday, the Google doodle had celebrated the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. The doodle 5 athletes playing different Olympic sports. On Saturday, the Google doodle had celebrated the sport of archery, with a female archer getting ready to aim for bull's eye.
Last Sunday's Google doodle celebrated the Olympic sport of diving. Monday and Tuesday were about fencing and gymnastics men's rings respectively. Wednesday it was the turn of field hockey, the first time the sport found its way into a Google doodle. The sport of table tennis or ping pong was depicted on Thursday. This Friday it was the turn of shot put, while Saturday and Sunday had pole vault and synchronised swimming respectively. Monday saw the week start with a javelin Google doodle, while Tuesday saw the first animated doodle in form of the London 2012 hurdles game.
Google has a rich history of Olympics related doodles. In 2008, there was a doodle celebrating the opening ceremony of the Bejing Olympics on Aug 8, 2008. This doodle showed the five Beijing Olympics mascots - BeiBei, JingJing, HuanHuan, YingYing and NiNi - carrying the Olympic flag.
Each day in 2008 saw different Google doodles being released. It is expected that this year too Google will stay true to its tradition and come out with a series of doodles spread across the fifteen days of the Olympics.

The French women's basketball team roared back from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to overtake the Czech Republic 71-68 on Tuesday, advancing to the semi-finals of the Olympic tournament.

The semi-final winners will advance to the gold medal game and the losers will play for the bronze.
The Czechs had used a brilliant scoring burst from Eva Viteckova to take a 51-41 lead after three quarters. Viteckova, held scoreless in the first half, accounted for 13 points in the quarter.
After Dumerc led France back, she was able to run the final seconds off the clock, and just before the buzzer threw the ball high in the air and hugged her team mates, all of whom then collapsed to the floor in a group celebration.
France's turnaround began with intensified defensive pressure that finally cooled off the Czechs' hot shooting.
The 5-foot-6 (1.69 m) Dumerc, 30, said she appealed to her team mates.
"Just keep running, keep fighting, keep believing in what you are doing," the charismatic player said. "I said to my team mates, 'we don't want to be crying at the end.'"
Dumerc, who saved France from an upset against Britain earlier in the tournament by sinking a three-pointer to send that game to overtime and another three-pointer to win in the extra period as time ran out, said the Olympics was bringing out her best.
"It's like I'm dreaming. The last shot I scored, I was like, 'again?' Every day I am waking up and thinking I am at the Olympics. And this is making me feel so good and so happy.
"Even if I am tired, I look around and see all these rings everywhere and these athletes. All these special (things) for sport and that is who I am. I love to play the game."

Google has a new Doodle for Tuesday-Olympic 2012-Hurdles.

Google has a new Doodle for Tuesday:

 the 12th day of the London Olympics and this time it is one which surfers can interact with. Press play and users can get their athlete to compete in the hurdles!
A tribute to each sport being contested in the ongoing Olympics, the latest Doodle will have surfers trying to make an animated character jump over hurdles using the spacebar on their keyboards while the arrow buttons (left and right) are to be presses repeatedly to make it go faster.
The current world record for the men's 110m hurdles is 12.87 seconds, held jointly by Dayron Robles of Cuba and Lie Xiang of China. The best runners in the world can regularly race under 13 seconds, but we haven't managed that here yet in Wired.co.uk Towers. Our best was a paltry 13.9 seconds -- easily beatable, surely.

While most may find it rather simple, actual athletes on the field have to train hard to compete in the hurdles event, especially to gain success in the Olympics where the level of competition is right at the top.

The 110m hurdles has been included in the 2012 Summer Games and women will compete in the 100m category. Athens, in 1886, had the hurdles for the first time with Thomas Curtis of the United States winning the gold medal. It was also the only time the  event did not have a bronze medal. Traditionally, United States have been dominating the event in the Olympics, claiming the Gold in all years except 1920, 1928, 1976, 1980, 1992, 2000 and 2004 (in the 110m category). That is 19 Golds in 26 Olympics for USA.
